NazSafe

For more information contact Pastor BJ Miller.

We are implementing a District Wide NazSafe Policy to make sure all our students and workers are as safe as possible. Our District policy won't be as specific as a local policy would be, but Robin Byler has worked with her team to try to cover all aspects of events we do as a District NYI. With that said, this is still a work in progress and will be updated as needed. Below you will find a copy of the ET District NYI NazSafe Policy as well as a copy of the Background Check Authorization Form.

EVERY ADULT leader and chaperone who will be working with students and traveling with your Church on a regular basis to District and Regional NYI events and/or EVERY ADULT leader and chaperone who will be staying overnight as a chaperone at any District and Regional NYI event needs to complete the following process:

1. Carefully read the ET NYI NazSafe Policy, sign the form on the final page and return that page to Robin Byler at the address listed on the form.

2. Complete or be in the process of completing the NazSafe Policy overview session (this will be offered at each District NYI Event for as long as it takes to reach each leader). If you attended the meeting at FIRE you are covered.

3. Print and complete the Background Check Authorization Form and return it to Pastor BJ Miller at the address provided on that form. The background check will be run for you at NO COST TO YOU. All information regarding background checks will be held in the strictest confidence. These records will be updated as needed on a two year schedule.

Again, this is all an effort to provide the safest environment possible for students and leaders alike. This may seem inconvenient, but the East Tennessee District NYI Council unanimously agrees that a slight inconvenience to our leaders is a small price to pay to help ensure that our students are as safe as possible.

Thank you in advance for your prompt attention to this information. We would like to get as many of you as possible certified by EXPLOSION November 8-9, 2013. The policy will officially go into effect on January 1, 2014. At that time it will be mandatory for all leaders and chaperones of District NYI events to have completed the NazSafe Policy requirements and the background check application.

Please contact Pastor BJ Miller directly if you have any questions regarding the information found above. You may contact Robin Byler if you have any questions directly related to the policy manual itself.

Thank you for helping us create the safest environment possible for all our students and leaders!
